More about Martinique surfspot
Near the town of Musquodoboit Harbour, Martinique is Nova Scotia's longest sandy beach. A summer swell magnet, it is protected from SW winds and is more consistent and less crowded than nearby Lawrencetown.
General: A consistent, shapely, wide-open and punchy beachbreak about 90 minutes north of Lawrencetown, near Musquodoboit Harbor. A large bay with sandbars galore - the south end has a small reef/pointbreak set up - it gets quite good, and gets a lot of swell. This is the place to go if the surf is small elsewhere. Tides: Medium to high (incoming). Size: Chest high-overhead Wind: North Swell: S, SE Bottom: Sand Paddling: Not too bad. Spot Rating: Not the best quality spot but consistent.
Beginner to advanced depending on the surf.
Easing access with a public parking lot.
Storm dependent: tropical cyclones in the late summer and fall with frontal activity from late fall through winter into spring.
Crowd Factor: Not really an issue. Local Vibe: Mellow.
It’s also a wild bird sanctuary, with piping plover nesting on the sand dunes.
Pretty good.
Cold winter temperatures.
