Oxwich Bay is a hollow beachbreak that peels both left and right over sand. It never gets overhead, so it stays an approachable wave rather than a heavy one. At the western end of the bay there's a pointbreak and reef with great shape, though they rarely see enough swell to break.
When It Works
The bay draws swell from the southwest through west, with southwest the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.2 m / 4 ft, and it takes a big winter swell to really get going. Consistency is on the lower side, so plan to catch it when a proper swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind. The bank is best at high tide, with a rising tide the better call as the water fills in.
Local Tips
The wave suits intermediate surfers. Expect a busy lineup with a mixed-ability crew when it's on.
Access
Parking is at a private car park, and it's on the pricey side.
