Point Reyes Beach (North Side) surf guide

Point Reyes Beach (North Side) is a unique surf spot located along the beautiful coastline of California. This beach features a long stretch of sand that can be pretty windswept, offering a sense of isolation and natural beauty. Access is easiest from the ends of the signed roads that lead to North Beach and South Beach, making it fairly straightforward to get to the surf.

The surf here can be decent, particularly during small, peaky swells. The beach can handle swell sizes starting at 1ft (about 0.3 meters) and works well with swells coming from the South and North. You can expect beach breaks that offer both left and right waves. With tides being flexible, you can surf during low, mid, or high tides, but the incoming tide usually works best. The ideal wind direction is Southeast, which can provide cleaner conditions. This spot is generally suited for intermediate surfers, so be prepared for some challenges, especially when the waves pick up.

On bigger days, it can get tricky. While it’s possible to ride the waves, you’ll need to keep an eye on the currents, which can be strong and sometimes even get a little dangerous. So, if you’re planning to surf here on those days, make sure you’ve got the skills to handle it. Bring your gear and enjoy the surf, but always be aware of your surroundings!
