Overview
Roca Alta is a serious right-hand reef that breaks over dead coral. The ledges here are the main event, and they get shallow and tricky at low tide, so timing matters more than at a forgiving beach break.
When It Works
The reef picks up swell from northeast through southeast, and a northeast swell is the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, which gives it a decent working window across everyday days and bigger pulses alike. Roca Alta is moderately consistent, so it won't fire every session, but the windows are there often enough to keep it on your list.
Wind and Tide
Look for southwest offshore wind. The reef can work through most of the tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call, and it keeps you away from the shallowest, trickiest part of the ledges.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers who are comfortable reading a reef and picking their moment on a ledgy right. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it turns on.
