Overview
Wimereux is a beach break near Boulogne that peels over sand and offers both lefts and rights. The main beach picks up average waves, while Pointe des Oies is the real draw whenever a swell is running.
When It Works
The break pulls in swell from southwest through northwest, with a west swell the best match. On a good southwest swell it becomes a genuine wave magnet. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and is moderately consistent, so you can count on worthwhile windows when the setup lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind to clean things up, since strong westerlies are the main thing that spoils it. The break comes alive on mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an approachable spot that suits beginners well. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
