Overview
Zippers is a river mouth right in the Cabo San Lucas region, and one of the best waves around. It peaks up gently outside a patch of exposed rocks, giving a smooth, easy takeoff, then runs almost laterally along a cobblestone reef, gathering speed as it heads into an inside section full of hackable lips and air sections. The wave holds its size all the way down the line, so you can keep stacking turns on a single ride. A few good ones here can make the whole session.
When It Works
Zippers draws swell from the southwest through southeast, with southeast (SE) swell the best match. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, breaking right over an uneven reef and sand. It's a consistent wave, and the season runs from spring through autumn, roughly April to October.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind. Zippers can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an expert-only wave, so mind the rocks and the other surfers in the water. Shortboards and fish suit it well. Expect a very busy lineup when it's on, though the atmosphere in the water is friendly.
Access
There's a surf shop nearby, and parking is restricted.
