Overview
47th Street is a sand-bottom left that holds up for a range of surfers. A jetty sits buried under the migrating sand here, and while it's out of sight it still lends the bank a little triangulation to shape the wave.
When It Works
The break draws swell from northeast through east-southeast to south (NE-ESE-S), with northeast the best direction to aim for. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, and it stays consistent, so waves tend to show up regularly rather than only on the rare good day.
Wind and Tide
Look for west offshore wind to clean it up. The wave can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. On high tide it tends to go fat once the swell drops under head-high, so a pushing tide is worth timing.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers best. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
