Acid Drop surf guide

Acid Drop is a right-hand surf spot known for its steep drops and fast barrels. It works best with a south-west swell, but it can also handle some south-east swell. Be prepared for a bit of crowd pressure here, as it can get busy due to its reputation. The environment features live coral, so watch your step both on and off the board.

The waves at Acid Drop can get pretty intense, especially with swells starting from about 2ft (0.6m) and going up. You’ll experience a short but powerful barrel before the wave shuts down over the coral heads on the inside. This spot breaks mainly right, and it prefers a north-east wind and mid-tide for the best conditions. It’s worth noting that this is not for beginners; you’ll need to be an expert surfer to handle the wave and the drop.

If you're looking for more options, you can check out nearby Kukuiula Harbour and Allertons. They offer some decent reef and beach breaks that can take some of the pressure off Acid Drop when it gets too crowded. Just keep in mind that Acid Drop needs respect and patience, along with solid skills to tackle the drop successfully.
