Aigrettes is a coral reef break best known for its friendly left wall, a forgiving stretch where improvers can work on their cutbacks. It breaks both left and right over dead coral. Beyond the main wall, the outside peak is a very different animal, a harsh barrel over urchin-covered reef that is hard to get across.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from southwest through southeast, with southwest the optimal direction. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and it holds up as a consistent option when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind to clean it up. The reef can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Aigrettes suits intermediates who want a manageable wall to practise on. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working. Given the barreling outside peak over shallow urchin-covered reef, following a local is the smart way to figure out the safe lines.
