Overview
Anse Couleuvre is a trade-wind protected right-hander tucked on the lee side of a big Caribbean island, framed by raw cliffs and a jungle backdrop. It's a narrow-window wave that only fires occasionally through the winter months. The ride opens with a manageable drop into a wall that wraps around the coral heads and turns very hollow in sections before racing through to the inside.
When It Works
The reef pulls in swell from north through northeast, with north the best direction. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. Consistency is patchy, so count on it coming together only now and then when the setup lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind. The reef breaks on mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an expert-only spot. The inside speeds over shallow coral and urchins, so timing an early exit matters. The lineup stays moderate and mellow when it's on, and it's not a place to hassle for waves. Everyone else can still enjoy the scenery, and there are some easier rights just to the south.
