Asia is a gargantuan stretch of resort beach with varying-quality beachbreak peaks breaking over sand, offering both lefts and rights. The waves have a split personality here: hollow and zippy one day, sloppy and slow the next. It usually comes together best around Playa Cocos behind the islands, where the sandbars are more varied.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), with west swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and it holds up as a consistent option that keeps producing waves across a range of conditions.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind to clean things up. The beach can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a friendly spot for beginners, and the varied peaks give newer surfers plenty of room to find a wave. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it works, and note that the high consistency here is matched by bigger summer crowds once the hotels and condos fill up.

There's a lifeguard on hand, and parking is easy to sort out, with a car park offering free parking alongside paid and roadside options.
