Baldwin Beach Park is a beach break running over a mix of uneven reef and sand, throwing both lefts and rights. It serves up a real assortment of waves for every craft and ability, from mushy longboard peaks to crunching shoredump, so there is usually something to ride whatever you are on.
When It Works
The break draws swell from northwest through northeast, with northeast (NE) swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and stays consistent, holding a rideable wave up to head high. That reliability is a big part of the appeal.
Wind and Tide
Look for south (S) offshore wind. The break works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. It also copes well with wind, continuing to break through moderate trades.
Local Tips
This is a friendly spot for beginners, with the sand and patchy reef giving newer surfers a chance to find their feet. Because it breaks so consistently, expect a busy lineup whenever it is on, though the emphasis here is firmly on fun. If you want a mellower session, there are more easy options next door at Paia Bay.
