Batu Mandi is a short, punchy left-hand reefbreak at the southwest tip of the Pangandaran peninsula. The name translates as "Washing Rock". It breaks hard and hollow over a sharp ledge of live coral, and hitting the reef here is a real possibility.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from south through west, with southwest swell the best match. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and it's at its best on smaller swells. Consistency is good, so the wave shows up often once the swell lines up. Further along the reef toward White Sand Beach, a longer left holds up on high tide during huge southwest swells.
Wind and Tide
Look for east offshore wind. The reef breaks on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. It's extremely shallow at low tide, and even at high tide it's vital to kick out early, before the shut-down end section.
Local Tips
This one is for experts only. Expect a fairly quiet lineup when it's working.

There's free parking, and the break is about a half-hour walk from the main beach.
