Boca Raton Inlet is a beach break that peels both left and right over a sandy reef bottom. It sits on a busy inlet, where boats share the water with surfers, so the estuary runout can be less clean than the water nearby. It is one of the more consistent spots in the area, even if the surf here is fairly average most of the time.
When It Works
The break draws swell from north to northeast, with a northeast (NE) swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so there is a decent window between too small and too big to ride. The south side of the inlet, inside the county park, holds size best and tends to be the more reliable pick, since the north side can be hit or miss. Expect the best of it through spring, autumn, and winter.
Wind and Tide
Look for a west (W) offshore wind to smooth things out. The spot can break across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an approachable wave that suits beginners, and it takes a wide range of boards, from shortboards and fish through funboards and longboards. Expect a busy lineup when it is working, though the atmosphere in the water is friendly. Keep an eye on the shallow reef.
