Overview
Boneyards is a heavy right-hander that breaks over boulders sprinkled with urchins. The drop zone sucks hard before feeding into a fast, barrelling pocket and a rippable wall. On smaller swells, lefts also show over the inside reef.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from northeast through southeast (NE-SE), with east (E) swell the best match. It fires best on northeast to east swells with a bit of water on the reef. The working range runs from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 4.6 m / 15 ft, and it stays moderately consistent through the season.
Wind and Tide
Look for southwest (SW) offshore wind. The spot has full protection from south wind, and even southeast sea breezes stay off it. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one is for experts only. Rips, sharks, and urchins are always lurking, so it demands real confidence and reef sense. Expect a moderately busy lineup, with dialled-in locals grabbing the lion's share of the sets.
