Booti Booti is a consistent sand-bottomed beachbreak that peels both left and right along a beach backed by Booti Booti National Park. Peaks form at the southern corner and continue for miles up the beach, and sand building up on the point usually leaves a handy paddling channel to get out.
When It Works
The break is consistent and draws swell from northeast through east-southeast to south (NE-ESE-S), with an east (E) swell the best match. It handles a wide range of sizes, working from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft. Just south, Elizabeth Beach can throw up sucky wedges and dumpy close-outs in northeast swells, and it tends to draw bodyboarders when it's big and surf schools when it's small.
Wind and Tide
Look for a west (W) offshore wind. It breaks through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a friendly, beginner-suited beachbreak. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on.
Access
Camping in Booti Booti National Park sits right behind the beach at the southern corner, so it's an easy walk to the peaks. You'll find restrooms, showers, and camping, along with plenty of parking: a car park with free parking, paid parking, and roadside parking.
