More about Brandons surfspot
Close to Bridgetown is Brandons, a sandy reef peak that only works on big hurricane or SE windswells and is offshore in NE trades. Mainly groomed, speedy lefts with the odd tuck section, or fleeting, rounder rights.
General: On the south coast of Barbados, the island's prevailing onshores can be offshore. Throw in some windswell coming around the southeast corner of the island or a South Atlantic swell, and you have the makings of a fun, user-friendly surf zone. Brandon's can serve up long, rolling lefts with the occasional cover-up and sometimes even legitimate bowl sections on the inside. Tides: High Size: Chest high-overhead Wind: Normal trade winds are offshore Swell: ESE, SE Bottom: Sand covered reef. Paddling: Can be some work when there is some size. Spot Rating: Fun, predominate left that offers good surf for pretty much any experience level.
Beginner to advanced depending on the surf.
Go by the horse track and look for the colonial fort ruins.
Summer for tropical cyclone swells and trade swells; winter for trade swells.
Crowd Factor: Definitely can get crowded when it is working. Local Vibe: Don't mess with the locals, and you'll have a much better chance of them not messing with you.
It gets crowded in winter and is dominated by town locals who love the place. Sloppy and beginner-friendly in summer.
Pretty good.
Not much.
