Silver Sands surf guide

Silver Sands is a surf spot featuring a mix of beach and reef breaks. It picks up Southeast swells pretty well, making it a popular hangout for surfers looking to catch some waves. The vibe can get a bit crowded, especially on good days, so be prepared to share the water with other surfers and some local crew.

The waves here can get hollow, offering both lefts and rights that work well with the right conditions. It handles swell sizes starting at around 3ft (about 0.9 meters) and is best when the swell comes from the Southeast. For the best ride, aim for low to mid or high tide, especially when there’s a North wind. Overall, it’s mainly suited for intermediate surfers who are comfortable navigating the sometimes short and dumpy nature of the waves.

When you head out, keep in mind that the Northeast winds can be cross-shore, so kite surfers and windsurfers often join the fun at Silver Sands. The mix of different water enthusiasts adds to the lively atmosphere, making it a lively spot for a surf session.
