Byberg is a northwest-facing boulder reef and point that peels left over a mix of boulders and sand. The walls are good and whackable, though the wave usually lacks power and runs very sectiony. When the swell gets big, a short, fun right also shows up to the south.
When It Works
Byberg draws swell from southwest through northwest, and southwest (SW) is the best match. It works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for an offshore wind from the east (E), though an easterly can carry an odor from nearby run-off. The point works through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The mellow, sectiony left makes Byberg a manageable spot for beginners.
Access
Paddle out from the boat ramp. The access road is narrow, so use the roadside parking considerately and take care not to block the road. The nearest facilities are at Bore Strand Camping. Be aware of a small run-off from the regional garbage dump that can carry landfill pollutants in low volumes, and note that an easterly offshore can bring a smell.
