Overview
Cap Lopez is the most reliable break along this stretch, tucked just below the lighthouse on the far side of Village des Togolais. It makes a solid fallback when Palplanche isn't working. The sandy beachbreaks here take all swells and lean heavily toward lefts, jacking up close to shore into hollow, shapely barrels. The water runs a little murky, as it does across this area, but there's real power on offer.
When It Works
The beachbreak draws swell from south through southwest, with southwest the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Consistency is moderate, so count on worthwhile windows rather than waves on tap every day. Peaks break both left and right, though lefts dominate.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind. The beachbreak can work through most of the tide, from low to high, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers comfortable with a hollow takeoff close to shore. Expect a fairly quiet lineup when it's on.
