Overview
Capo di Feno is a beach break that peels over a mix of uneven reef and sand, sitting about half an hour west of Ajaccio. The peaks can be tricky to track down, but the roads heading west out of town open up plenty of waves, and it pays to scout around Parata Point for other swell-exposed points and reefs. Waves break both left and right and are often hollow, with real power on tap.
When It Works
The break is open to all west swell and draws from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), with northwest (NW) the best angle. The rights come into their own on a northwest swell. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and given how much power and size it carries, it is not the place to be when it turns big or windy. Consistency is moderate, so expect it to come good when the setup lines up rather than every session.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind. It can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Capo di Feno suits intermediate surfers best. Expect a fairly quiet lineup even though it is only half an hour from town. Watch out for rips and the ever-present Mediterranean jellyfish.
Access
Reaching the spot takes about half an hour from Ajaccio. There is a car park with free parking, along with restrooms, showers, camping, and a lifeguard.
