Overview
Capo Marina is the only city break in Genova, a right-hander that sits right along the city's central Corso Italia in front of the Capo Marina beach bar. It's a long-standing favourite with the Italian bodyboard community, breaking over a mix of rock ledge and sand.
When It Works
The wave draws swell from south through southwest, with southwest (SW) the best match. When a big southwest swell arrives, short, tubey righthanders unload over very shallow sand and rock. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north (N) offshore wind to clean it up. The reef can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an expert-level wave, breaking over very shallow sand and rock. Expect a crowded lineup through the summer.
Access
The break is easy to find along Genova's central Corso Italia, in front of the Capo Marina beach bar. The beach itself is private property of the bar, so paddle out 500 m west of the wave. Parking is straightforward, with a mix of free, metered, and roadside options nearby. Be aware that water quality here is very poor.
