Carmen D'Uria is a surf spot that's hard to miss if you're driving along the coastal highway. The great rights here are prominent, but the area doesn't get as much attention from surfers as you might expect. It's got a bit of a reputation, partly due to the parking situation near the favellas, which can make things tricky for those looking to catch some waves.

This spot works best with a northeast swell, and it can handle sizes down to about 2 feet (0.6 meters). The waves typically break over boulders, and you're mostly going to find right-hand point breaks here. The ideal conditions come with a south wind, and it's pretty flexible with tides, working at low, mid, and high. You'll want to be at least at an intermediate level to navigate the waves safely.

If you're planning a session, keep in mind that the spot really needs some size to clear the rocks, so it’s not the most consistent option around. Still, when it's on, it can be a rewarding experience. Just be prepared for the conditions and know what you’re getting into.
