Overview
Chadbourne Gulch, also known as Blues Beach, is a punchy beachbreak that breaks over sand and throws up both lefts and rights. The south end of the beach holds the standout wave, a good left.
When It Works
It draws swell from south through north, with a south (S) swell the best match. The break is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and it comes into its own when the surf is small and glassy with no wind on it.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east (E) offshore wind to keep the faces clean. It works best around mid tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This beachbreak is a favourite with the Fort Bragg crew, so expect some company in the lineup when it's firing.
Access
Park at the end of the dirt spur west of Highway 1 near milepost 75.40, where there's a car park with free parking.
