Overview
Charlie's Point sits within walking distance of Baler and is best known as the Apocalypse Now surf spot. It's a reef break where peaks spill lazily over a bottom of boulders and sand, throwing up both lefts and rights. Wave quality here is average, making it a laid-back place to surf rather than a heavy performance wave.
When It Works
The spot draws swell from the north through to the east, with a northeast swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.2 m / 4 ft, so those small-to-moderate days are when to time your session.
Wind and Tide
Look for a west offshore wind to groom the peaks. The reef can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
