Overview
Dalugen Reef is a fast, hollow left that breaks over a flat reef of rock ledge and sand. If the reef looks like a lot, there are beachbreaks right alongside it that suit less experienced surfers.
When It Works
The reef takes swell from north through east, and northeast (NE) is the direction that lines it up best. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, so that is the window worth watching.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind. The reef can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The left is best suited to intermediate surfers, and the neighbouring beachbreaks are the sensible option if you are still building up to a fast reef wave.
