Charlot is a set of powerful, sucky reefbreaks out in front of the new harbour at Grand-Rivière. The waves break over uneven reef and peel both left and right.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from north through northeast, with a north swell the best match. It picks up plenty of swell, though that same exposure also brings more wind. Expect it to work from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, and with only moderate consistency you'll want to catch it in the right window.
Wind and Tide
Look for south offshore wind. It breaks across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Charlot is an expert-only wave. Long rights are possible, but the paddle runs against the sweep, so only experienced surfers should take it on. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
