El Pepe surf guide

El Pepe is a surf spot located on a long curve of sand that features a rivermouth, which can create some decent banks for surfing. It's sometimes referred to as La Boca de la Laguna. The beach's layout gives it a unique vibe, and you can find surfers of different levels here, but it's mostly suited for those with a bit more experience.

The optimal swell direction at El Pepe is Southeast, but it also handles swells coming from the East and South. You can expect this spot to work well with swell sizes starting around 2 feet (about 0.6 meters). The waves here break over sand and come in both left and right directions, so there's a little something for everyone. The best times to go are during low to mid and high tides, especially if the wind is blowing in from the Northwest. Just keep in mind that it's best suited for intermediate surfers, so if you're still getting the hang of things, you might want to take it easy.

As the conditions can shift, watch out for rips between the sandbars, as they can change from one session to another. Keep an eye on the tide and swell size to make the most out of your time in the water. Enjoy the sessions and respect the ocean!
