El Yanke surf guide

El Yanke is a surf spot located down some rough dirt roads, making it a bit of a trek to get there. It features a decent beach break that can attract surfers looking for some fun waves. While it can get crowded at times, it's usually not too busy compared to some other popular spots in the area.

The surf here works best with swell coming from the west, but it can handle south and west swells as well. It's suitable for wave sizes starting at about 2 feet (0.6 meters) and breaks over sand. Surfers can catch both left and right waves, which makes it a good spot for beginners to practice. The ideal wind direction is from the northeast, and the waves can be surfed at low, mid, and high tide, giving you some flexibility with your session.

El Yanke is a pretty chill spot for improvers and those just starting out. It doesn't require massive surf to break, making it a good choice when conditions aren't firing elsewhere. Just be aware that to find the better high tide peaks, you'll need to go about two beaches north to Playa Hermosa, where you can find options that might suit all skill levels without the hassle of a heavy crowd.
