Faria Beach is a long stretch of sandbars with cobblestones lining the beach, breaking both lefts and rights over sand. There's plenty of room to spread out, which makes it an easygoing summer option.
When It Works
The bank draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest, with southwest (SW) the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and it comes alive on small, peaky windswells pushing in on an incoming tide. Above head high it tends to close out, so this is one to catch while the surf stays on the smaller side. Expect moderately consistent conditions.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind to clean things up. It breaks on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The forgiving banks and plentiful space make this a solid pick for beginners. Expect a fairly quiet lineup when it's on.
Access
Park along the old PCH, a popular free seaside park-up for recreational vehicles and campervans. There's roadside parking and room to camp.
