Flakstad is a wide beachbreak on Flakstadøy, with peaks spread along the sand and lefts tucking into the corner off the boulders. The beach faces northwest, so the peaks get a little shelter from the southwest. Just north, Vikten is a similar setup but sits more exposed to the wind and is flanked by boulder reefs.
When It Works
Breaking over sand, Flakstad picks up swell from the west through north, with northwest the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and serves up both lefts and rights. Consistency is moderate, so you'll find rideable days fairly often even if it doesn't turn on every time.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind to clean things up. The beach works through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a friendly spot for beginners, and the lineup tends to stay fairly quiet.

There's a car park with free parking plus roadside parking, and a nice campground sits behind the beach.
