Overview
Floreat Groyne is a sand-bottom left that tucks in with good shelter from the dominant southwest winds. The lefts can wrap decently along the groyne, though they rarely push above head high, and it can turn sucky and dumpy on its day. All the city amenities sit close at hand.
When It Works
It draws swell from southwest to west and is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. Consistency is moderate, so you'll catch it on and off rather than every session, but when the left lines up along the groyne it's worth a look.
Wind and Tide
Look for east offshore wind to clean it up. It works through the full tide range, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Expect a busy lineup when it's working.
