Gwenvor is the most exposed beach in Cornwall, tucked at the north end of the bay. When there's nothing breaking here, there's no surf anywhere. Expect beachbreak peaks alongside a fickle right-hand point that runs over sand and rock.
When It Works
The beach pulls in swell from the south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), and southwest (SW) is the direction to look for. It breaks over sand and throws up both lefts and rights, working from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. The right point is fickle, so don't count on it every session.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east (E) offshore wind. It surfs on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Access
Gwenvor takes some effort to find. You can walk in from Sennen, or grab a map and head through Escalls to Tregiffian Farm, where there's a car park at the top of the cliff.
