Keya surf guide

Keya is the main surfing break in western Fukuoka. This spot can handle some size, and it’s known for being pretty consistent. The waves here pack a punch, and thanks to the curve of the beach, you can catch good conditions with wind from the northeast to southwest. Just down by the golf course is usually where the biggest and best waves break, so it’s worth checking that area out.

The optimal swell direction for Keya is northeast, though it can also work with swells coming from the west and northeast. It handles swell sizes starting at about 2 feet (0.6 meters), making it accessible for different skill levels, including beginners. You’ll find beach breaks here, with waves that can break left and right, depending on the conditions. For the best experience, southeast winds are preferable, and this spot can be surfed at low, mid, or high tide.

While Keya is open to surfers of all abilities, it’s a good idea to pay attention to the swell and wind conditions to make the most of your session. This spot provides a solid option for those looking to ride some powerful beach waves in a relaxed atmosphere.
