Kimmeridge - Broadbench surf guide

Kimmeridge - Broadbench is a surf spot located in a military firing range, so it has its unique quirks. This place offers a bit of adventure, but it also comes with some restrictions. To access the spot, you’ll need to pay for parking above K-Bay and then take a 20-minute walk around the cliffs to the west. Keep in mind that access depends on military activity, and it's important to check for any warnings, like the red flag which generally flies on weekdays.

The waves here can be fast and bowly, breaking over an uneven reef, making it suitable for experienced surfers. Kimmeridge - Broadbench handles swell sizes of around 3 feet (about 0.9 meters) and works best with south or west swell directions. You can catch both left and right waves, depending on the conditions. For the perfect ride, the wind should ideally be coming from the north, and the tide can be low, mid, or high. Just remember that the take-offs can be steep and shallow at low tide, so watch out for the reef!

While Kimmeridge - Broadbench doesn’t work all the time, it can be worth the trip if the conditions align. It’s best suited for expert surfers due to the nature of the waves and the reef. Just keep up with the military schedule to make sure you can paddle out when it's safe!
