Overview
La Rinconada is a left-hand point that peels over a mix of uneven reef and sand. It's a similar set-up to Buchu', without much hollow to it, instead offering rumbling long walls and generous cutback shoulders. The break runs along a black sand beach where colourful fishing pangas sell fresh seafood to locals and tourists.
When It Works
The point draws swell from south through west, with southwest (SW) the best match. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, and it's a consistent spot that shows up often.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast (SE) offshore wind. The point can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and those forgiving walls and cutback shoulders pull in crowds of learners through summer. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on.
