La Vaca surf guide
La Vaca is located further inside in the next bay from Las Flores. It's often seen as a pressure valve when Las Flores gets a bit slow at high tide. This spot tends to be fairly uncrowded since not many boats heading to Punta Mango stop here. The scenery is nice but don't expect a bustling surf scene.
The waves here can be fun, especially with swells in the 2-6ft (0.6-2m) range. The optimal swell direction is from the Southwest, but it also handles swells coming from the South. Riders can enjoy rights breaking over an uneven reef and sand, making it a bit of a mixed bag. Ideal conditions typically occur at low to mid tides, and the best wind direction is from the north. This spot is suitable for intermediate surfers who are looking to improve their skills, though it can get a bit hollow and fast at times.
Overall, La Vaca offers a decent option if you're looking to escape the crowds. Just be aware that the waves are shorter and the rocky areas might not be the most inviting. If you're willing to put in some time, you can catch some fun sessions here.
