La Vedette surf guide

La Vedette is located about 30 kilometers north of Huasco, past Los Toyos. It's a surf spot that generally flies under the radar, making it a good option if you're looking to avoid crowds. The consistency here is mid-range, so you can expect decent surf conditions on a regular basis.

The waves at La Vedette are best when there's a solid swell coming from the southwest, with optimal directions being south and west. It can handle swell sizes starting from around 2 feet (about 0.6 meters). The surf here breaks over an uneven reef, producing standout barreling lefts as it wraps around a rocky point. For the best experience, aim for low to mid or even high tide, and ideally, the wind should be coming from the southeast. This spot is suitable for intermediate surfers, so make sure you're comfortable with your skills before hitting the water.

If the swell is too small or conditions aren't ideal at La Vedette, you might want to check out the long beach to the north, which can provide alternatives for catching some waves. Just remember to keep an eye out for the rocks when you're in the water, especially on the inside.
