Overview
Le Ruppione is a sand-bottomed beachbreak just past Punta di Sette Nave. Most of the time it's an unremarkable shorebreak, though a left sometimes settles on the south side. When it's not cooperating, La Castagne sits close by, a much better reefbreak tucked into a landscape of wind- and water-sculpted granite.
When It Works
The beach serves up both lefts and rights and draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), with west the pick of the bunch. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and it breaks with reasonable regularity when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east wind to hold it offshore. It'll still take some onshore when it rolls through as a mushy close-out. The bank works through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on.
Access
There are restrooms, showers, camping, a lifeguard, a surf school, and a surf shop, plus a car park with free parking.
