Overview
Les Anglais is a sprawling river mouth left point and the longest wave in Haiti. It reels over boulders, and when it turns on the long peelers run all the way past the town. On its best days it delivers a leg-burning, Pavones-like ride from top to bottom.
When It Works
The point draws swell from east through south, with southeast swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. On smaller swells you'll ride the outside section, but once the period pushes past 7 seconds the wave really opens up, breaking in three long sections and joining into one continuous line. Consistency can be a little hit or miss, so it rewards timing your session to a solid swell.
Wind and Tide
Look for north offshore wind. It breaks on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a fun, rewarding wave for intermediate surfers. Expect a quiet lineup, and part of the appeal here is having a wave this long largely to yourself.
Access
Reach the top of the point from the boulder river mouth just east of Les Anglais, where there's free roadside parking. The area feels rusted out from constant sea blast and has no hotels, so plan on a long day trip from Port Salut or a shorter run in from Tiburon.
