Les Route des Peches is a stretch of sand-bottom beachbreak on the Benin coast, named after the track that runs down to it. The waves peel both left and right, so there is usually a peak to pick a direction from.
When It Works
Swell arrives here from southwest to southeast, and a south swell lines the banks up best. The break is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.2 m / 4 ft, so it wants a bit of size without ever needing much.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north wind to groom it clean from offshore. It surfs on low and mid tide, with a rising tide the better call.
Local Tips
The beachbreaks are friendly territory for beginners, with soft sand underneath and a choice of lefts and rights. Expect company in the water, since the track brings other surfers down to the same peaks.
