Lighthouse surf guide

Lighthouse is a surf spot located a quick 10-minute boat ride from the main area. It's known for its powerful waves, but it’s not for the casual surfer. This place demands respect and skill, especially as conditions can be quite challenging. If you're looking for an adventure and you have the experience, Lighthouse can offer some thrilling sessions.

The spot typically works well with swells coming from the north, but you’ll also see it firing with west and northeast swells. It can handle sizes around 4ft (1.2m) and gets better as the swell builds. The waves here break over a reef, creating rights that can get quite hollow. The inside section is especially famous for its barrels, but it can get really tricky with the super-shallow reef at play. Best conditions are usually with a southeast wind and the tide can be low, mid, or high, but keep in mind that it can go dry on smaller days.

This spot is for experts only, as the waves can get quite heavy, and it holds sizeable swells, so bigger is always better here. If you’re aiming for a challenge and want a ride that compares to Sunset Beach in Hawaii, Lighthouse may just be the place for you.
