Mabuntok surf guide

Mabuntok is a surf spot located near the islands of East Bucas, Casulian, La Janosa, Mamon, and Antokon. Getting there requires a longer pump boat ride, so be prepared for a bit of a journey. This spot isn’t the easiest for new surfers since the waves can be challenging, but they’re generally not too critical, making it a decent spot for those looking for some fun without the extreme competition of more famous spots.

The waves at Mabuntok work best with an east swell direction, but you can also catch good waves coming from the northeast and southeast. It handles swell sizes starting at about 2ft (0.6m), which can be perfect for those looking for a bit of a challenge. The surf breaks over uneven reef and sand, creating both beach breaks. You can find both left and right waves here, which keeps things interesting. The preferable wind direction is from the north, and you can expect good conditions at low, mid, and high tides. Just remember, this spot is best suited for expert surfers, so make sure you're ready for it!

While you're out there, check out the various reefy peaks on the south side of Antokon as well. They can offer some decent waves offshore when conditions are right. It's a good idea to time your sessions according to the tides and wind to make the most of your day at Mabuntok.
