Overview
Manda Left is a left-hand reef break that peels over live coral, often running long with fast, racy sections. It picks up and holds more swell than anywhere else in Kenya, so it is usually the best bet for a wave when other spots are flat.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from northeast through southeast, with southeast the best direction. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft and is moderately consistent, so expect worthwhile windows rather than waves every day.
Wind and Tide
Look for west offshore wind to clean it up, and watch for southeast onshores, which knock the wave down badly. It breaks through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Manda Left suits intermediate surfers, and the lineup tends to stay quiet even when it is working.
