Overview
Mangersta is a small, sandy beach break tucked into a bay, breaking over sand with a couple of peaks that throw both lefts and rights. It rarely turns on clean, but when it lines up there are workable waves on offer.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from southwest through northwest, with southwest swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and the peaks really come alive once the swell builds to around head high. Consistency is moderate, so it pays to time your session to a solid pulse.
Wind and Tide
Look for east offshore wind to groom the faces. It can break across low, mid, and high tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call, and the peaks tend to be at their best around mid tide when the swell is head high.
Local Tips
Mangersta suits intermediate surfers, and the lineup stays fairly quiet even when it's on. Keep an eye on the right side of the bay, which can turn into a cauldron of whitewash and rips.
Access
Reach the beach along a rough track from the southern side, where there's free roadside parking.
