Overview
Miramar is a beachbreak town where a run of stubby jetties has carved out plenty of sandbank options. Honores, near the rivermouth, picks up good banks and draws a crowd, while Nautico and Cacho are favourites with the large local contingent. Keep in mind that run-off can leave the water polluted after rains.
When It Works
The banks break over sand and throw up both lefts and rights. Swell rolls in from the northeast through east-southeast to south, with a northeast swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and with moderately consistent surf there are worthwhile windows when everything lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northwest offshore wind to clean things up. Miramar can work through low, mid, and high tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a friendly spot for beginners finding their feet. Expect a busy lineup when it's on, with plenty of the sizeable local crew in the water.
Access
You'll find restrooms, showers, a lifeguard, a surf school, and a surf shop on hand. Parking is free, with roadside spots available.
