Mundesley breaks right in front of town, where sandbars held together by dozens of old wooden groynes shape the banks. It's a genuine swell magnet over a sand bottom, throwing up both lefts and rights.
When It Works
The banks pull in swell from northwest through north to southeast (NW-N-SE), and a north (N) swell is the pick of the bunch. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, giving a wide window of usable size to play with.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southwest (SW) offshore wind to groom the faces. The banks can break through low, mid, and high, but a rising tide is the better call, and it tends to be at its best around mid on the push. It can turn hollow when the wind swings southwest during a northeast swell.
