More about Murion Left surfspot
Few will get the chance to surf the uncrowded reefs of the Montebello Islands, an archipelago located 130km off the coast of Dampier. Marine life is extremely active despite British nuclear testing in the ‘50s, but only limited access is permitted and the surf charter Heron doesn’t operate any longer. Neighbouring Barrow Island also hides a gem lefthander that breaks for about 2km, but getting there is tricky, except for employees of the oil or pearling industry. A more accessible option for quality offshore surfing can be found at Murion Left, where a very consistent, playful wall wraps around the island’s northern tip.
boat only
It’s 10km (6mi) NE of the tourist station of Exmouth, where there’s plenty of boats heading out to this quality dive site.
