Murkle Point is a heavy, swell-exposed left pointbreak that breaks off a rocky outcrop known as The Spur. It's a rarely surfed wave, peeling over a rock ledge, and the inside offers some protection from southwest to west gales.
When It Works
The point draws swell from west through north, with northwest the best direction. It's usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 4.6 m / 15 ft, giving a wide working window once real energy is in the water.
Wind and Tide
Look for southwest offshore wind. The point works on mid and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a left point that suits intermediate surfers.
Access
Reach the spot from the lane south of the bay; the closer lane coming in from the east ends in private land. There's free roadside parking.
