Newcombs Hollow to Lecounts Hollow is a surf spot that offers a mix of conditions for both novice and experienced surfers. It's part of a longer stretch of beach that can get crowded at times, particularly because of the nearby pay carparks on the cliffs. The vibe is generally laid-back, but you might encounter some drift and that typical pea soup fog that rolls in pretty regularly.

The waves here can handle sizes up to around 2 ft (0.6 m) quite well. The optimal swell direction is from the Southeast, but you can also catch some action from North and Southeast swells. The surf breaks over sand, creating beach waves that go both left and right. When the wind comes from the West, it's usually the best time to hit the water. Ideal tide heights for surfing tend to be low or mid, making for a decent paddle-out and some predictable, fatter, crumbly walls. Lecounts Hollow in particular is more manageable compared to other nearby breaks, making it a good option when the swell is bigger.

Being mindful of the conditions is key, as the power can be less than what you might find further south.
